Choose to live and love life
If there is one thing that I think everyone should realise in life is that everything is a choice, your choice. We choose to live, to be happy, to love, to hate (although I think hate is a waste of energy so won't be talking about that much, just wanted to put it out there) and to have a positive mentality. We can't always control the situations we find ourselves in, but we can choose to make the best of the situations that we are in. Other people can guide us places, but essentially your life is your own choice, or well a combination of your choices.


I came across this website of the top five regrets of the dying through a friend and could not help but get everyone around me to read it. Don't let the words death or dying blur the underlying message of life. I think those are good five pointers to live life by so to avoid any regrets. Like many I actually don't like to think about death, but find that accepting that none of us can avoid it really does make the now that much more important.


One thing that I have learned through my experiences and having cancer is that life really is short. One minute I was feeling alive and thinking the moment would never end, the next I was battling for my life. I completely understand that the ups and downs make our being and believe they cannot really be without the other. After all it's better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all. I do believe that a positive mentality is essential through it all though. A positive mentality not only helps get through the tough times, but probably more importantly, it allows us to fully appreciate the good times.


With the above in mind, I would urge anyone reading this blog to live life to the fullest (if you're not already that is). I think good health is one of the things people take for granted the most, I know I surely did. So forget about any fears or excuses holding you back, as long as you have your mind, memory and enough health to take you there - do it! Make a list of all the things you want to do in life and tick something off each day. Go to all the places you have wanted to visit, get back in touch with old friends, challenge yourself to something new, let your passions guide you, start a healthy diet or simply give a friend a random hug. Whatever you do, be happy doing it. If you're not, learn from it and find something that actually does make you happy. It's a simple choice.
